Captain Joseph Mesh, CD
Captain Joseph Mesh grew up in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. He joined 1916 Beaumont Hamel Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (RCACC) on his 12th birthday and remained there until leaving his hometown for university. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2009 as a Cadet Instructors Cadre Officer working with 2415 Gonzaga RCACC in St. John’s, NL. He served there as a Star Level Officer and Band Officer. In 2012, he moved into the position of Assistant Training Officer, a role he filled until the end of 2013. During this time, Capt Mesh also served each summer at HMCS ACADIA Sea Cadet Summer Training Centre in Cornwallis Park, NS, filling the role of Divisional Officer / Music Instructor in 2010 and 2011 and Music Department Logistics Officer in 2012 and 2013.

In 2014, Capt Mesh moved to Halifax, NS. He then worked with 305 Sackville Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps as a Band Officer. In 2017, he began working with 117 Preston / Westphal RCACC, filling the position of Supply Officer. In the summer of 2018, he served as Assistant Operations Officer at the Cloud Lake site of Greenwood Cadet Training in Greenwood, NS. That fall, he was promoted to his current rank and appointed as the Training Officer for the corps. In 2021, he was appointed Deputy Commanding Officer. In October 2022, he assumed command of 117.

Capt Mesh holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland (2013). In civilian life, he manages a band repair department, a role he was appointed to after 5 years as an instrument repair technician. He lives with his wonderful wife, Chantel, and they have twin children, Eleanor and Edison.
