Ms. Tanamya Brooks
Tanamya Brooks Joined 117 Preston/Westphal RCACC as a Cadet in October, 2016. She was a cadet for six years and participated in the drill team, marksmanship team, orienteering team, and the corps band. During this time, she was awarded the Army Cadet Service Medal and the Lord Strathcona Medal.
Ms. Brooks completed the General Training, Basic Expedition, and Drill & Ceremonial summer training courses. She also completed the regional expedition and was Company Sergeant Major for VCTC Charlie in 2021. In her final summer as a cadet, Ms. Brooks was selected to represent all Nova Scotian cadets at the Cadet Advisory Council in Ottawa, ON. Ms. Brooks ended her cadet careed as Chief Warrant Officer and Regimental Sergeant Major of 117 Preston/Westphal RCACC.
In 2022, Ms. Brooks was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for her work promoting human rights for the LGBTQ+ community both inside the cadet program as well as within her community.
Presently, Ms. Brooks serves as a Civilian Instructor while her application to the Canadian Forces Reserve - Cadet Instructors Cadre processes. She is also a student at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, where she studies Criminology and Phsychology. She is also a member of the SMU Huskies rugby team.
